Ke Chunhuang, director of the Innovation Fund Management Center of the Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology, visited Pingtan three times this year. He said, "In the past, Pingtan had a weak industrial foundation and so were local company’s innovation capacity. But now it has seen a rapid increase in science and technology companies."
He also offered valuable advice about Pingtan's science and technology development. He said the government's current priority is to lay out a good development plan for its science and technology park and to strengthen cooperation with business incubators, makerspaces and other similar agencies to provide high-quality services for the science and technology companies in the city.

In terms of talent and investment introduction, he also advised that the local government and companies should organize more promotional activities across the country inviting more universities and research institutions to visit the city. Considering Pingtan is also a cross-Straits area, Ke also emphasized the great importance of attracting talent and investment from Taiwan.
Pingtan is actively boosting the development of its science and technology companies in the city. In 2016, a total of 14 companies, including Zongren Science and Technology (Pingtan) Co, have been awarded the title of "Pingtan Science and Technology SMEs". Additionally, seven companies, including TPK (Pingtan) Co, have been selected as candidates for Fujian provincial Science and Technology Enterprises.
