It is the second straight year of the race, echoing President Xi Jinping’s call for increasing cross-Straits cultural communication.
The event was divided into three groups – men’s 90km road, men’s 60km mountain and women’s 30km mountain. Huang Jin, Lin Bingyu and Lin Xiaoqing clinched the top place in their groups.
Cycling is a popular sport. The race will serve as a bridge for Pingtan and Taiwan’s workers, said Lin Jiangling, deputy director of PCPZ’s administrative committee.
“The event is of great significance in enhancing cross-Straits communications,” said Yao Chiang-lin, chairman of the Chung-Hua Cross-Strait Labor Relations Development Association.
Yao added that he hopes more Taiwan professionals will come to Pingtan to take advantage of favorable policies in the Pingtan Free Trade Zone.
