Fujian province will try out unified registration of immovable property as part of its land management reform this year, according to an action plan issued by the provincial government.

The Chinese laws define that the immovables include land, houses, forests and maritime space rights.

It is noteworthy that personal home properties will also be put on record, a move that claims to curb corruption and ridiculously high housing prices in some regions.

The provincial government will work out details on implementation of the registration mechanism by the end of this year and push for legislation, said the plan.

The registration of immovable properties will play a role in straightening out the ownership and usage rights of those assets. It will also enhance protection of property rights, said Wang Azhong, professor of the school of management at Fuzhou University.

Apart from immovables registration, Fujian will also make specific rules on compensation on land acquisitions for rural people, according to the action plan.
