The Matsu sugarcane tower is for the Lantern Festival and an old tradition and example of Fujian province's cultural heritage. People in the village of Putian, make many artistic types of food out of ordinary ingredients for the festival, which comes on Feb 14 this year, to pray for bountiful harvests and a good year.
