Wenjiang builds unique greenway

Wenjiang district, Chengdu had completed construction on a 65-kilometer greenway in the north and a 54.5-km non-motor traffic system in the south by the end of 2018.

A total of 23 projects involving agriculture, entrepreneurship, tourism and health care have been launched along the greenway, receiving a total of 1.4 billion yuan ($207 million) in investment and creating more than 300 jobs for locals.

Another 18 projects receiving 27.5 billion yuan in investment are also underway, and more than 40 additional projects with an estimated 32 million yuan in investment are currently being discussed.

Linpan, a special settlement in West Sichuan, has been able to preserve 10 settlements along the greenway by restoring landscapes and improving the living environment. A total of four landscapes have been restored.

A series of recreational activities, such as Fitness Day, a half-marathon, and a cycling event, were held last year along the greenway and attracted 200,000 participants. The Wenjiang greenway received 11.9 million tourists and earned more than 1.3 billion yuan in tourism revenue.
