Wenjiang's first 5G base station put into operation

A 5G technology exhibition was held in Chengdu's Wenjiang district on Dec 26, marking the first 5G base station in the district.

Held by China Mobile Wenjiang Branch, the exhibition showcased the application of 5G technology in daily life. Examples such as digital entertainment systems, immersive virtual reality videos and cloud computing demonstrate the changes 5G technology will bring.

Wenjiang plans to build 355 5G base stations next year. The construction will start in Chengdu Medical City first and then cover key areas such as tourist areas, university town and greenways.

Wenjiang will also explore the application of 5G in intelligent medical treatment, digital entertainment, vehicle networking, online education and home security to make the city more livable for people.
