Foreign students charmed by Wenjiang

To allow more foreign students to learn about the industrial development, living environment and employment opportunities of Wenjiang district, Chengdu, more than 30 foreign students from local universities were invited to visit the area on Nov 30.

Exploring an innovative model of government cooperation with universities and companies, the district has established strategic partnerships with notable domestic and foreign entities. To date, Wenjiang has partnered with 20 universities (including Peking University, Sichuan University and MaGill University in Canada), and is home to 85 key laboratories and R&D institutions, 37 academicians and more than 200,000 talents.

During the activity, foreign students visited Chengdu Medical City, where Wenjiang endeavors to develop a high-end health care industry by combining the internet , big data and artificial intelligence technologies with medical treatment and health care.

Foreign students also visited the 65-kilometer Beilin Greenway at Lujia Beach. The greenway integrates Wenjiang's resources of flowers, trees, ecological environment and scenic spots and mixes them with developing urban agriculture, health care, and tourism.

The bonsai art and plant plaiting art at a bonsai park acquainted students with the history of Sichuan-style bonsai, which originated in Wenjiang.

With the activity, foreign students saw the development prospects of Wenjiang, increased their interest in Wenjiang culture, and are now considering the possibility of working there in the future.
