Over 10 volunteers from various countries including Egypt, Indonesia and Malaysia joined the opening ceremony of the 2017 International Cultural Exchange Summer Camp in Wenjiang's Tianfu community on Aug 1, sharing their culture with local Wenjiang students.
A volunteer from Egypt pointed out at the opening that he hoped to learn more about traditional Chinese painting, Chinese kung fu and Sichuan Opera.
It is the fifth year for the cultural exchange summer camp to be held in Wenjiang, providing an opportunity for students from different countries to communicate with local students and learn from each other’s culture. The event is also expected to help expand China's cultural influence abroad.
Official statistics show that there are several hundred left behind children in the Tianfu community. To provide these children with a better summer holiday, staff members from the community have spent several months planning and preparing for the summer camp.
