Youth Music festival thrills fans in Chengdu

The 2017 Chengdu International Friendship Cities Youth Music Week has started with a bang featuring performances from 78 local and international musical groups.
The week-long festival which began on July 26 will conclude on August 1. This year’s event is the largest so far introducing 48 international groups from 41 cities and 31 Chinese groups.
The official opening ceremony will be held at the Eastern Suburb Memory Performance Centre on the evening of July 28. The Zambian national dance company will highlight the event with a special performance on the night while various outdoor shows keep fans entertained.
Five branch venues, including Shouchuang Tianxi square in Chenghua district, Cultural Centre in Xindu district, Qingrong town square in Pidu district, Nanqiao square in Dujiangyan, and Administrative Centre square in Pengzhou, coordinating with the main venue, will allow fan to be better enjoy the colourful music festival.
The music week will feature cultural exhibitions, such as the Zambian woodcarving exhibition, Israeli picture exhibition, and the second Chengdu international tango festival, in order to add some exotic flavour to the musical performances.
The Hong Kong Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble has a performance slated on July 29 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as well as promote the cultural communication between Chengdu and Hong Kong.
