Wenjiang district in Chengdu, Sichuan province recently held a series of cultural activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the end of the World War II.
The district invited Jia Xiangang, a veteran who participated in the war on Aug 21, to tell children about war stories. Talking about his childhood when flames of battle raged everywhere, Jia advised young people to cherish peace and the stable life at present.
More than 50 Wenjiang children and their parents painted murals in the Liucheng Community on Aug 24. Under the theme of “War Heroes”, their paintings told impressive stories of the eight-year war.
The activities were held in an effort to highlight the human spirit of resisting injustice and fighting for freedom, according to an official of Wenjiang’s working committee for women and children, one of the organizers of the events.
