The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876)

Author: Mark Twain

Country: America

Introduction: Tom Sawyer is adopted by his Aunt Polly. Disobeying his aunt’s rules and school regulations, he often plays hookey from class. One night, while playing with his best friend, Huckleberry Finn, he witnesses a murder. Worried that the murderer knows their names, they run to an island in the Mississippi River and pretend to be pirates. Aunt Polly and their families think they are dead. But unexpectedly, they appear at their own funeral. Though struggling with inner fear, they finally accuse the murderer of his crime. Later, during a picnic, Tom and his favorite girl, Becky, get lost in a cave. Faced with the threat of hunger, danger and death, they successfully find their way out.
