Four-time nominee – unfair treatment?
The Titanic actor was nominated this year for his performance in The Wolf of Wall Street, in which he plays disgraced US stockbroker Jordan Belfort. He again walked away empty handed.
This is not surprising to those who have stayed up-to-date with the Oscars. There were few surprises as 12 Years a Slave and Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club) took home the Best Picture and Best Actor awards, as they were pre-announcement favorites.
The controversial nature of The Wolf of Wall Street could be said to have hindered DiCaprio. The corrupt life of the protagonist sparked distaste among voters some of whom may have fallen victim to financial fraud.
