MUNICH - German and Chinese officials and experts are holding a symposium in Munich to discuss citizen's rights and national legislation in the digital age.

The discussion centers on three main topics: infringement and law enforcement, protection of personal information and citizen's participation in legislation in the internet environment.

Chinese Minister of the State Council Legislative Affairs Office Song Dahan and German Federal Minister of Justice Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger attended the symposium.

The internet is wielding more influence on China's economy, politics, culture and society, Song said. At the same time, there are challenges like the protection of minors, the protection of personal information, online trade security and network security, he added.

Song said the Chinese government will constantly analyze the new problems and improve legislation by learning from other countries' experience.

About 90 representatives from the two governments as well as legal experts and executives from the internet industry attended the two-day symposium.
