VIENTIANE - Laos and China vowed to enhance their bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership to a new level at a high-level meeting here on Friday.

The meeting brought together General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone and visiting member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC Liu Qi.

Choummaly expressed warm congratulations on the successful opening of the sixth plenary session of the 17th Central Committee of the CPC, and the rendezvous and docking maneuver between the unmanned spacecraft Shenzhou-8 and the orbiting space lab module Tiangong-1.

"The relationship between the two countries and parties is at its healthiest in history thanks to deepened political trust and practical cooperation," he said, adding "this visit will certainly further enhance the traditional friendship between the two countries and parties, and promote the friendly communication and cooperation between Beijing and Vientiane."

Liu conveyed cordial greetings and good wishes on behalf of General Secretary of the CPC and Chinese President Hu Jingtao to Choummaly, saying that with this year marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and China, frequent high-level exchange visits between the two sides are helping to deepen bilateral cooperation.

Liu said, "the Chinese government and party always look at the China-Laos relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. China is willing to work closely with Laos to earnestly implement the shared vision of the two leaders to constantly consolidate and develop the relationship between the two countries and parties, and promote the Laos-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level."

"Beijing is willing to strengthen cooperation and exchange in all areas with Laos," Liu stressed.

On the same day in Vientiane, Liu met with Asang Laoly, member of the Political Bureau of the LPRP Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, and Soukanh Mahalath, Mayor of Vientiane, and also attended the opening ceremony of the "Charming Beijing" photo exhibition and the signing ceremony between the Beijing Trade Development Association and the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The three-day goodwill visit of the CPC delegation led by Liu came in response to an invitation from LPRP, and began on November 3.
