China increases US treasuries holding in March
WASHINGTON - China increased its holding of US Treasury securities in March for the second consecutive month, the latest data from the US Treasury Department showed on Monday.
China added its treasuries holding by $27.9 billion in March, with the total holding up to $1.0876 trillion.
China's forex reserves rose for the third month in a row in April, as the cross-border capital flow became stable and the Chinese currency, renminbi, stabilizes against the US dollar.
Japan, which overtakes China as the largest holder of US treasuries in last October, increased its holding by $3.4 billion to $1.1185 trillion in March.
By the end of March, overall foreign holdings of US Treasury securities rose to $6.0793 trillion from February's $6.012 trillion.
