A lesbian couple have had a DIY baby after using a syringe full of their best male friend's sperm to get pregnant. Jade Richards, 36, and Ann Gard, 32, from Australia's Brisbane, couldn't afford in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, so they decided to use the syringe, which is usually used to impregnate horses, in a desperate bid to have a baby. They wanted to start a family so when their friend of eight years, Jarrad Evans, 36, offered to be a sperm donor they jumped at the chance. During the course of 14 months, Evans produced sperm samples which he deposited into a syringe every month and the couple got to work with their DIY insemination. Jade finally became pregnant after many failed attempts, and baby Micah was born on September 6. The couple have agreed that Evans would be Micah's dad and he will spend special occasions with the family. [Photo/IC] |
