ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - Two people were killed and another injured in a knife attack on Saturday onboard a Chinese transport ship off the waters of Sulu, Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Sunday.
The PCG said they learned of the incident when the captain of the ship sought for an emergency docking off southern Philippine city of Zamboanga early Sunday morning to help the wounded crew member.
The captain told PCG that one of the crew members went berserk stabbing the others at about 11:30 am local time on Saturday. Two people died on the spot and another was seriously wounded.
The PCG added that the ship anchored nearby Sta. Cruz Island off Zamboanga and the wounded victim was immediately sent to hospital.
The captain told PCG that the ship left Australia five days ago and bound for China transporting the iron ore.
