During their talks, President Xi and his South Korean counterpart Park Geun-hye exchanged in-depth views on the Korean Peninsula issues and reached four important consensuses as follows:

First, the two sides reaffirmed the goal of denuclearization, peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.

Secondly, the two countries noted that the September 19 Joint Statement, which was issued after the fourth round of Six-Party Talks in 2005, should be observed.

Thirdly, China and South Korea agreed to stay the course with the Korean Peninsula denuclearization process and address concerns of all relevant parties.

Fourthly, they agreed to facilitate consensus-building and resumption of the Six-Party Talks.

"The consensuses carry a positive keynote and a balanced definition, which will surely play an active role in easing the Korean Peninsula situation and resuming the Six-Party Talks," said Wang.

"Both China and South Korea are important countries and major economies of Asia and the whole world at large. With Asian regional cooperation in the ascendant and the global economic recovery still sluggish, President Xi and Park agreed that the bilateral cooperation should contribute more to the peace and prosperity in Asia and the whole world," the minister concluded.

President Xi kicked off his state visit to South Korea on Thursday.

After he arrived in Seoul, Xi held a meeting with Park, and the two countries issued a joint statement.

On Friday, Xi met National Assembly Speaker Chung Ui-hwa and Prime Minister Chung Hong-won respectively. He delivered a speech at Seoul National University and attended along with Park a high-level forum on bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
