About the company
Agria was founded in 2004 in Beijing's Zhongguancun as a seed producer. It also runs sheep-breeding operations and tree nurseries in China.
In 2007, Agria became China's first agricultural-biotech company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
In 2009, the company began investing in PGG Wrightson, New Zealand's largest agricultural services provider, and is now its controlling shareholder.
With a history of more than 170 years, PGG Wrightson operates in about 48 countries and regions, with annual sales revenue of $1 billion. Under Agria Corp, PGG Wrightson offers leading agricultural products and rural services in New Zealand, Australia, China and South America.
