Fan Changlong, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, told visiting US Security Advisor Susan Rice in Beijing that the US military should reduce and ultimately stop "close-in reconnaissance."
"We hope the US can promote the healthy development of new China-US military ties with concrete actions," Fan said.
Rice, who is visiting to prepare for US President Barack Obama's trip to an APEC meeting in Beijing in November, said the US and China need to reduce existing differences, seek new ways to cooperate, and deepen military relations.
