Updated: 2014-05-18 08:38

BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Sixteen critically injured Chinese nationals were evacuated from Vietnam early Sunday morning aboard a chartered medical flight arranged by Chinese government, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Chinese government has earlier sent a working group to central Vietnam's Ha Tinh Province to work with Vietnamese authorities to discuss an escort plan for wounded nationals.

The working group, led by Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao, also went to hospital in Ha Tinh to visit the injured Chinese citizens.

The recent anti-China violence in Ha Tinh has left two Chinese citizens dead and more than 100 others injured.
