A vocal anti-smoking campaigner
Peng Liyuan is China's anti-smoking ambassador and also the national ambassador for the control and prevention of tuberculosis.

Caring about children's rights
* For Chinese children affected by HIV/AIDS, Peng is called "Mother Peng".
At the 2006 World AIDS Conference, Peng characterized the children most in need of the public's care and support as innocent victims.
* Youth education topped the issues Peng Liyuan cared about. In the past 10 years, she submitted proposals about education for youths in rural areas, youth cyber safety and AIDS orphans' mental health.
Peng especially called for educational support in rural areas. She proposed the government should not only waive rural students' tuitions but also consider providing medical subsidies to their families.

Promoting Chinese traditional culture
Peng Liyuan pays attention to promoting Chinese traditional culture worldwide. Peng said during an interview in 2002 that she had prepared a proposal, suggesting the government reinforce regulations and management in the cultural market.
She said she hoped China's folk music will garner global recognition.
