12 apples beat iPhone6
Can you imagine the price of 12 apples surpassing that of Apple's iPhone6? Yes, these precious apples were sold at a boutique supermarket in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province.
On Christmas Eve, a set of beautifully packaged "Pinganguo", which translates literally to "peace apple" in Chinese, sold at a staggering price of 5,888 yuan ($950) a set, with each of the 12 apples bearing an animal sign of the Chinese zodiac at a supermarket located in downtown Nanjing, Modern Express reported on Thursday.
Apples sold like hot cakes at Chinese markets and their price soared on Christmas Eve, thanks to clever marketing. Ji Shiling, a fruit shop owner, said what he sold as "Pinganguo" was a common apple wrapped up in a gift box.
