Women's Prison focuses on life skills
Free TV, hairdressing and beautician appointments, two square meals a day, life in Jilin province's women's prison sounds great, except, well it's in prison.
"It's not that horrible as it is shown in TV play. Life here is similar with that of ordinary women except without freedom." a woman surnamed Yu who has been in jail for 5 years said.
The prison offers a variety of training courses such as housekeeping, costume design, photography and hairdressing to help the imprisoned women attain life skills.
As Jilin's only women's prison, the administration uses creative programs that are humane care for its prisoners. The goal is to become a new model of prison administration in China.
