China's top court opened its official micro blog and WeChat account on Thursday in a move to increase judicial transparency and increase interaction with the public.

The Supreme People's Court registered its micro blog on Sina Weibo and its WeChat account on Tencent to help people better understand legal procedures, the court said in a statement.

Sina Weibo is one of the largest micro-blogging service providers in the country and WeChat is a popular social network app for smartphones.

The court will disclose information about its legal work and issue judicial interpretations or information about important cases via the platform.

Judges will interact with and take advice from judicial professionals and the public this way, the statement added.

So far, 31 provincial high people's courts and more than 150 grassroots courts have created micro blogs, Sina Weibo said.

Henan province and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region have the most court micro blogs, the Internet company said, adding that the accounts are very popular.
