78 years of marital bliss in E China

Wang Peng, 104, waters plants as his wife, Wu Kunsong, 103, looks on, in Dongguang village, East China's Fujian province, Oct 10, 2013. The couple married in 1935 and has been together for 78 years, and is believed to be the oldest couple in Fujian. They live simply, said son Wang Qinyao, one of their eight children. "My father always makes my mother happy after they fight, and my mother will leave everything delicious to my father," he said. His father has difficulty with hearing, but the couple can talk in low voices. "They are always together," said Wang Yuqin, the couple's daughter. Wang helps Wu undress for bed, and always wakes her up to arrange her quilt at night. "My parents have been very healthy. They worked hard into their 80s and barely have any health products," Wang Qinyao said. China will celebrate the Double Ninth Festival, or Chongyang Festival, on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month, which is Oct 13 this year. The festival was designated as Seniors Day in 1989.
