Tiffany Cheng, 23, won the competition to represent North America in the Voice of China television show later this year.

Cheng, a graduate of the University of California at Berkley, won out over two other singers - Xinyu Yan and Tingyu Lian in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Considered the American Idol of China, Voice of China is the country's biggest singing talent show reaching the largest audience in China's contemporary music industry. It was created by ZJTV, the television station of Zhejiang province in East China.

Judges for the event included Qing Dong, well-known Chinese host of CCTV's New Year's Gala; Travis Payne, at one time a choreographer for Michael Jackson; Nathan Wang, Chinese composer in Hollywood and two-time Emmy Award winner; Yingjiu Duan, president of JT Media, and Yi Huang and Da Shan, winners of Voice of China's previous two seasons.

Zhaohe Che, cultural counselor of the Consulate General of China in Los Angeles, gave a keynote speech and congratulated the contestants. She said she hoped all the young singers to fully show their talents.
