Man commits theft to leave unhappy marriage
What are the lengths to which a man will go to get out of an unhappy marriage? One man chose to stay behind bars just so he could get a divorce.
A man, 30, surnamed Xu, was caught for theft for the fifth time in Pan'an county, Jinhua of East China's Zhejiang province, in order to have an excuse to get a divorce, Qianjiang Evening News reported on May 12.
Xu, who earns more than 10,000 yuan ($1,611) per month, a relatively high salary for someone of the working class, stole several hundred yuan worth of items to intentionally get himself locked up, and returned the stolen goods and money the moment he was caught.
Xu said he was forced to marry his wife, whom he never loved, by both party's parents and hoped his father-in-law would let him get a divorce now he has demonstrated bad behavior.
