Mona Lisa recreated by street painter

Mona Lisa recreated by street painter

A man with crippled left leg drew Da Vinci's masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, with chalk on the street of Jinhua city in Zhejiang province on Thursday, attracting crowd of onlookers, zjol.com.cn reported on Saturday.

The 6-square meter drawing was finished after five hours of work, winning praise from the crowd. Amazed by the talented artist, passersby took photos and put money into a carton beside him, one generous man even put in 200 yuan ($32). The man showed his thanks by nodding to the donators.

The man surnamed Cong, 53, is from East China's Shandong province. His left leg was amputated at young age.

Cong has been roaming the streets for over 20 years and been to most places in China. He learned to draw by himself and made a living as a street painter.

Many people online found his story touching, "A disabled man can draw the Mona Lisa with chalk, which is so moving. Seeing a man like him being so strong, how can we not work hard?"
