Spoiled kid sparks anger

A video showing a boy hitting and kicking his grandmother on a subway in Nanjing sparked wide anger among Chinese web users. The video shows the boy continuously hitting his grandmother using a vacuum cup, and slapping her in the face when she tried to grab the cup. Later he kicked his grandmother in her leg. The grandma said he is spoiled at home and she may have said something about him that he found displeasing.

Fake UN officers

Two farmers who pretended to be UN officials and attempted to get a prisoner released were detained on site, Xiaoxiang Morning Herald reported Tuesday.

The farce occurred in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture in Central China's Hunan province on Saturday, when the two used fake UN identification and a forged release warrant signed by "Chinese President". One of the two men was trying to get his relative out, who still faces about seven years of imprisonment.

Official suspended for pornographic online chatting

An official surnamed Li was removed from his post for using obscene words while chatting with a woman on the Internet, in Pizhou, East China's Jiangsu province, Modern Express reported on Monday. The official was married and is the vice head of the security department of the Land Pizhou City Resources Bureau. The affair was exposed by the woman's boyfriend.

A building in Zhengzhou, Henan province has become an online sensation for being similar to the new China Central Television Building, known as "the big pants", because of its shape. The structure, called E-commerce Building and built by Zhengzhou government, is now dubbed "the small pants", China News Service reported.

Zoo to launch website featuring live animals

Beijing Zoo, one of the largest city zoos in China, will launch a website to show live animals in cooperation with Baidu, the country's Internet giant. The website, China Online Zoo, will launch on International Children's Day, June 1, Mirror Evening News reported on Monday. Internet users will be able to watch live broadcasts of animals at the Beijing Zoo by searching for specific animals, the report said.

Traffic officer detained after hit-and-run

Wuhan man has funeral on street for his dog

A man in Wuhan held a funeral, complete with a coffin, for his pet dog on a downtown street on Saturday, Chutian Gold News reported on Monday. The dog's owner said that the dog, a husky, had been with him for five years and had became a member of the family. Nearby residents said they understood the man's love, but said it was not suitable to hold a dog's funeral in the street.
