Hanxian Rock scenic area, located in Junmen Ridge, Huichang county, Ganzhou city, Jiangxi province and on the junction of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi, is most famous for its typical Danxia landform. It has been praised as "little Penglai to the south of the Yangtze River" since ancient times. In 1995, it was listed as the province-level scenic spot; in 2011, it was raised to National Level-AAAA Tourist Attraction and in 2010, Hanxian Lake was selected as national scenic spot of water resources by China’s Ministry of Water Resources. The spot, which occupies about 75 square kilometers, has a south-to-north-length of 15 kilometers and a east-to-west width of 5 kilometers. It is named after Han Zhongli, one of the Eight Immortals in China, who was said to master Taoist magical arts here. It includes 36 scenic areas in total, ranging from Hanxian Rock, Hanxian Lake, Mountain Pangu, Yangjiaoshui Fort, Hanxian Hot Spring to Guojiangping Old Pine Trees. The area contains profound cultural significnace including legends of the Eight Immortals, Pangu culture, red culture and Hakka culture. |
