Hainan bougainvilleas add color to coming Spring Festival

The first Hainan International Tourism Island Bougainvillea Exhibition will be staged between Feb 1 and April 15 in Haikou city, capital of China's southernmost Hainan province. Government officials from Haikou made the announcement at the Bird's Nest Cultural Center in Beijing.

The exhibition will not only offer visitors the enjoyment of the blooming flowers, but also performances, agricultural product sales, cycling and a lantern show.

As the Spring Festival draws near, Hainan is a favorite choice to escape the cold and enjoy a vacation in its warm weather amid beautiful natural scenery.

Bougainvilleas are typical tropical ornamental plants, chosen as the provincial flower of Hainan province in 2013.
