Dongchuan, a rural area in the northeast of Kunming, SW China's Yunnan province, is believed to have the world's most imposing red earth, even more magnificent than that in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Due to the warm and humid climate, the Iron oxide in the soil deposited slowly through years and gradually developed an extraordinary reddish brown soil. The land is seldom visited by ordinary tourists for its remoteness and inadequate lodging facilities; however, the picturesque scenery there is paradise for photography fans. [Photo/China.com.cn] |
