The 37-year-old midfielder became the second oldest player ever to score at a European Championship. Portugal responded three minutes before the interval when Nani fired in a powerful low left-footed strike into the bottom-left corner after receiving a through ball by Ronaldo.
Hungary were in front again in the 47th minute as skipper Balazs Dzsudzsak's free-kick deflected off Andre Gomes before flying into the net.
Ronaldo made it 2-2 three minutes later, flicking in Joao Mario's cross past Kiraly from close range.
Dzsudzsak put Hungary ahead 3-2 in the 50th minute, producing a curling finish via a deflection off Nani.
