Chilean fans proved their enthusiasm for the World Cup but not in the most law abiding way.
Fans stormed the Maracana media centre before the match against Spain, breaking through security cordons and rushing through metal detection checkpoints before running into the centre which can accommodate around 1,500 media in a vast workroom inside the stadium. Some 87 Chilean fans were arrested. Local media also said four Chilean fans had tried to use fake tickets to gain access to the game. They too were arrested.
"We know these are fake tickets, but we still want to try our luck," said Gonzalo Flores, 37, from Santiago.
