Nanshan China Masters postponed

(China Daily) Updated: 2014-03-16 08:12

The $1 million Nanshan China Masters, originally scheduled for Sept 25-28, has been postponed by two weeks in order not to clash with the Asian Games, organizers have announced.

The popular tournament, first held in 2011, will now take place from Oct 9-12 at the Nanshan International Golf Club in China's eastern Shandong province.

A gripping final round last year saw South African Charl Schwartzel come from behind to pip fellow major winner Darren Clarke and home favorite and defending champion Liang Wenchong by a shot.

The 17th Asian Games take place in Incheon, South Korea from Sept 19-Oct 4 and includes both a team and individual medal competition for amateur golfers.

Golf was first played at the Asian Games in New Delhi in 1982 and previous medal winners include now OneAsia regulars Kim Meen-hwee (2010, Guangzhou) and Kim Kyung-tae (2006, Doha).
