Shanghai airport police held a campaign to prevent telephone fraud in Terminal 2 in Hongqiao Airport on May 12. They handed out brochures, set up information boards, answered questions and played video clips on LED screens in the terminal.

The frequent occurrence of telephone fraud has resulted in significant losses in recent years. The Shanghai airport police have paid close attention and adopted a series of effective measures to prevent telephone fraud. Recently airport police saved 200,000 yuan ($32,540) for a victim by stopping an attempted fraud.

Airport police have cracked down on 19 telephone fraud cases involving about 900,000 yuan since 2010. Ten suspects have been captured. Meanwhile, with the cooperation of banks and airports, the airport police have stopped seven people from being defrauded and saved about 280,000 yuan. These measures have effectively stopped the spread of telephone fraud cases.
