The zone will focus on key sectors such as cloud computing, industrial design, Internet of Things, and digital presses in the future. By 2020, it is expected to have an output value of 170 billion yuan in automobile industry, 50 billion yuan in strategic emerging industries and a total production value of 220 billion yuan of the whole industry in the area.
The zone also put great efforts on high-level urban construction and environment protection with a group of vital urban function projects settled in the area, including Liangjiang Happiness Square, Zhaomushan Forest Garden and Chongqing Garden Expo Park. Twenty-two resettlement residential areas have been built in the zone to benefit more than 130,000 local residents. Social service facilities, such as international schools, international hospitals and children hospitals, also have been improved.
The New North Zone aims to turn itself into the “forest city” of Chongqing with 44 gardens and 13 wetland gardens. It has a forest coverage of 37 percent and a greening rate of 40 percent.
