The automobile industry has developed into the pillar industry of the area with an annual output value of 130 billion yuan ($18.9 billion), with a production capacity of 1.3 million cars, 1 million gearboxes and 1.45 million engines per year.
The New North Zone strove to boost its development on emerging industries and achieved great success in outsourcing and IT business. The zone is often referred as China’s own Bangalore, the southern Indian city which has been a success in the software and IT business over the last decade.
Many well-known enterprises, including Microsoft, Zhubajie.com, Fujitsu, NEC, and Huawei have R&D centers in the area. It has more than 300 software and service outsourcing companies, such as CISDI Engineering, Founder and T.Y. Lin International, employing nearly 50,000 people.
