A customized Songjin Brocade picture album jointly created by Suzhou's silk brand Saintjoy and the Chinese Academic of Agricultural Science will be presented to Fidel Castro, the revolutionary leader of Cuba, for his 90th birthday.
Alberto J. Blanco Silva, the Cuban ambassador to China, was recently presented with the album and will take it to the Cuban Academy of Sciences, which will use it as a report to Castro on the development of Cuba's silkworm industry in the last five years.
Saintjoy has previously presented its Songjin brocade products to Castro. A scarf was given as a national gift in July, 2014, and a scroll with a group photo of leaders from both countries was presented by the Sericulture Institute of the Chinese Academic of Agricultural Science this June.
Saintjoy, a brand of Wujiang Dingsheng Silk Co., gained exposure to the world when Song Brocade was used in the tailor-made clothes for the world leaders and their spouses attending the 22th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Beijing in 2014.
