Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter visited Xi'an in 2014 to attend celebratory events for the 35th establishment anniversary of Sino-US diplomatic relations. It was Carter's eighth trip to Xi’an since retiring from office.
After visiting the Qin Dynasty Terracotta Warriors, Mr Carter praised the site as the "world's best monument". Referring to his trip to Xi'an, he said that his trip to Xi'an was one of the most meaningful of his trips around the world.
Ex-president Carter also attended an academic exchange activity held at Xi’an Jiaotong University during his two day visit and talked with the university’s principal, Wang Shuguo.
