Suzhou girl Ma Moqiu recently went viral after receiving a $3,000 scholarship to study in the US capital from President Barack Obama at the 2016 White House Correspondents' Dinner.
Born in Suzhou in 1990, Ma was one of the 18 straight A students to be awarded scholarships at the event. After studying at Suzhou High School for a year, she was elected to finish her high school courses at Gyosei International School in Japan. In 2010, Ma chose to further her study at Keio University among offers she received from famous Japanese universities. She is currently studying postgraduate at the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.
Under the scholarship, Ma will spend a semester in Washington with TV Asahi America to file stories covering State Department briefings, congressional committee hearings and senior level press conferences.
For a scholar focusing on Australia's public diplomacy, working as a recreational manager in China may never be part of his career path. But Bradley McConachie does have lots to say now about his special experience at a resort in the picturesque tropical coastal city of Sanya in South China's Hainan province.
One of the potentially most traumatic things a girl has to go through is finding a new hairdresser.
