In line with the plan of the nation to boost the development of football on February 2015, the China (Shanghai) International Youth Football Invitational is Shanghai's leading event to promote youth football education.

It aims to become an international platform for young students to exchange football techniques and improve the quality of China's campus football.

The event has been sponsored by China's Ministry of Education, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Shanghai Municipal People's Government and organized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Sports Bureau, Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, China Student Sports Federation and Shanghai Overseas Chinese Foundation.

The event, planned by the Shanghai Football Dream Culture Media Co also has lots of strategic partners including the Overseas Chinese Charity Foundation of China, Shanghai International Culture Association and Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation.

With a theme of "connecting the world of football through Overseas Chinese, connecting the world through football", the event taps on the rich resources of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. By reference to regulations and experience of international football events, this match is held every year and is targeted at players under the age of 17.
