The International Congress of Historical Sciences started in 1900. Except during the World War I and World War II, it has already been held 21 times so far. Being the most influential academic activity of historical sciences, it enjoys a reputation of “Olympics of Historical Sciences”. From 23rd to 29th August, 2015, the 22nd ICHS will be held in Jinan, China, it is the first time for the Congress to be held in Asia. The 2015 Congress, hosted by the International Committee of Historical Sciences, is organized by Association of Chinese Historians and Shandong University, the latter enjoys more than 114 years’ history and is especially famous in the fields of literature and history.
The Congress includes 4 major themes, which are “China from Global Perspectives”, “Historicizing Emotions”, “Revolutions in World History: Comparisons and Connections” and “Digital Turn in History”. There will also a series of academic activities such as specialized theme discussions, joint sessions, round tables, evening discussions, and poster session for post- graduate and PHD students etc. Over 2000 historians from all over the world will participate in those activities.
After successfully hosting the Olympics in Beijing, the 22nd ICHS comes as an opportunity to show again China’s long history and profound culture to the world. During the term of the Congress, participants will also have the chance to fully enjoy the hospitality of friendly Shandong – a big cultural province in China, and its fascinating history and culture.
