1. How is the performance of the whole industry in 2012? How is Chinese companies’ performance? What’s your expectation of the industry this year?

The German drive and fluid power industry is the biggest industry segment within the German machine and plant engineering with a turnover of approximately 23 milliards of Euro in 2012. Of this amount around 16 milliards of Euro account for the drive and 6,6 milliards for the fluid power technology. Besides that its portion in global trade is considerable: Thus the German drive technology covers 22 per cent, the German fluid power technology 26 per cent of the global turnover. This makes them be the number one worldwide in their respective sector.

In this year the expectations of the sector are rather suppressed, the overall order intake and the turnovers, however, are remaining high. A distinct upturn in inquiries is, however, expected for the year to come.

2. What is the biggest company in Power Transmission and Fluid Power Industry? How’s the gap between most Chinese companies in the industry and the leader?

Bosch and SKF for example belong to the greatest German producers and exhibitors at the PTC Asia. These companies hold international top positions in their sector. They are leading technology suppliers at a premium level and are also very active and successful on the Chinese market.

3. Have you seen any new trends in this business sector?

For both sectors it is important to keep the global megatrends in mind, and here in particular among others the resource efficiency along with an ever rising demand for better performance. The quality of the service and the innovative strength are particularly appreciated with German manufacturers.

4. What benefits will the participants get from PTC Asia?

The PTC ASIA is an excellent stage for innovations around drive and fluid power technology. Visitors can expect a broad range of presentations of companies and products. Thus the PTC ASIA is the most important industry platform in Asia.

5. What companies should do to survive in global economic slowdown?

Economic cycles are very common in our sector. In the long term the perspectives for the drive and fluid power technology are, however, very good.

6. China is developing quickly in power transmission and fluid power sector, however, there is a big gap between China and Germany. What can Chinese do to fill the gap in the future?

Strengthen the own strength.
