Xi'an Qujiang International Conference Center opening ceremony was held on Dec 3.
The newly built Qujiang International Conference Center, the largest international conference center in the northwest, had a total investment of 1.09 billion yuan ($171 million), covers an area of 42 acres and a total construction area of 76000 square meters. The center is located in south Huixin road, New Qujiang district.
The conference center is the terminal building on the axis of the Qujiang International Conference and Exhibition Center. The center was designed into a wave shape; the big rounded roof features Chinese influences but also symbolizes modernization and internationalization.
The facilities in the conference center meet the demands of most kinds of meetings, said a designer surnamed Miller from the German GMP International Construction Design Company. All the facilities operate intensively so that more functions can be added in the future, he added.
The conference center offers more than 40 different sized meeting rooms, including an auditorium that can seat 2,000 people, international conference halls and press conference halls. It is also equipped with a first-class electronic voting subsystem, notes tip subsystem, audio and video sharing system, simultaneous interpretation system, standard clear digital control system and a conference service management platform.
The auditorium on the first floor features a break-through design–a large room without a column–the first of its kind in China. The room is 54 meters in width, 108 meters in length, area of 5832 square meters. The mechanical sliding partition can separate the room horizontally or vertically depending on the purpose. The auditorium is therefore also suitable for weddings and other parties.
Energy saving was also taken into consideration during the design process. Although large in size, the energy consumption levels of the center are kept reasonable with energy saving technologies used for heating, lighting, and ventilation.
