French UBI Company, the second largest games developer in the world, has been settled in Chengdu for more than four years. It has grown from one person engaging in outsourced projects to independent research & development team of 180 staff. As a major project introduced by Chengdu, the municipal government and the government of the high-tech zone provided great support to UBI in terms of taxation, training, office costs in the park, favorable rent, training subsidy of local talents and reduction and exemption of taxation of imported technical equipments. These aspects helped Chengdu UBI develop rapidly into one of the ‘the top ten outsourcing enterprises in Chengdu'.

When selecting the site of its second branch in China, Chengdu, Xi'an and Dalian were all candidate cities. But during the following investigation, the talent advantage and complete government affairs services of Chengdu made the city an easy choice. "Eighty percent of our staff graduated from colleges and universities in Chengdu," said He Feixia, general manager of human resources of Chengdu UBI. There is a large number of colleges and universities in Chengdu and talents that have majored in cartoon and arts are widely stationed here, which to a large extent, relieves the pressure of recruiting talents for game enterprises.

UBI established the company in Chengdu in September 2007, which started formally operating in January 2008. After three years, Chengdu UBI has gradually developed from undertaking outsourced projects only to engaging in research and development, and establishing the "Made in Chengdu" brand.

The social game The Smurfs™ & Co was researched and developed solely by UBI Chengdu Studio and was released on the social networking page Facebook on July 29 this year. The game was the first social game that obtained a license within two weeks. It was the most popular trending game on the networking page, creating a record of 3,902,785 of monthly active game players.

Under the global plan of UBI, Chengdu is dedicated to the research and development of high-quality online games targeting the global market with the aim of becoming the largest game developer in Western China.
