At the closing event of the 11th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) in Singapore on Oct 7, organizers announced that the 12th WCEC would be sponsored by the China Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Association (COCEA) and held in Chengdu city, Sichuan province in 2013. Xie Guomin, president of the COCEA and Wang Zhonglin, vice mayor of Chengdu Municipal People's Government, inherited the WCEC flag from representatives of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI).

Chengdu is known as "the hometown of pandas" and "the land of gourmet food" according to Xie Guomin. The capital is one of China's historically and culturally renowned cities as well as a major city in Western China. "Chengdu will make every endeavor to host a wonderful, beneficial and pragmatic global grand gathering," said Xie.

The 11th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention this year was attended by more than 4,000 delegates from all over the world. The first WCEC was held in Singapore in 1991 and has been convened biennially ever since. The event currently serves as a significant platform for worldwide Chinese entrepreneurs to strengthen ties and develop exchanges.
