A delegation of 32 American business people led by Christian Murck, new president of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, visited Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province on April 8.
"We are here to learn more about the investment environment and seek more investment opportunities," said Murck.
The group consisted of business representatives from the fields of medicine, pharmaceutical, information technology, electronics, machinery and finance.
After visiting some American companies, Murck gave high praise to the city's investment environment and the excellent services the local government had provided over the years to overseas enterprises.
During their visit, both sides talked about future cooperation and exchanges. Murck said the Chamber would recommend Nantong to more American businesses as a favorable investment destination.
With a location by the Yellow Sea and the Yangtze River and a fairly solid foundation, Nantong has achieved remarkable economic development since China's reform and opening-up in 1978.
By the end of 2009, over 9000 overseas companies had invested in Nantong, including 901 American businesses, with an investment of US$ 17.2 billion.
