There is no interest, and no need, to teach sex education, until the child reaches, or is about to reach, puberty. This is the time when their bodies are changing, and they want to know why. Teaching before this period is not productive, and teaching after this period serves no purpose. The interest is not there in either case. Teaching at 5 years old is no good because the child doesn't care what's going to happen to him/her in 7 or 8 years time. And teaching after age 18 is too late because it's already happened, and they don't care anymore.
